Concern over the alarming number of traffic crashes and traffic delays have resulted in Lake County taking steps to improve the intersection of County Road 466 and Rolling Acres Road.
Traffic Engineering Data Solutions studied the intersection and found that 88 accidents had occurred at the intersection in the five years prior to July 2016. The report showed the midday peak at the intersection occurred between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The study also found that westbound traffic on County Road 466 turning right onto Rolling Acres Road utilized a “rolling stop” where the vehicles did not come to a complete stop.
The county has placed a “No U-Turn” sign on the eastbound lane of County Road 466. Many cars were using the left-turn lane for U-turns to gain access to the The Summit of Lady Lake office complex and Sunset Professional Plaza on the north side of County Road 466. This resulted in numerous accidents as cars turned right off of the southbound lane of Rolling Acres Road. Lake County is also adding a right turn arrow to the southbound lane of Rolling Acres Road.
