A pair of suspected thieves on the run from Home Depot prompted a brief lockdown Tuesday afternoon at Villages Elementary of Lady Lake.
The two suspected thieves had been at Home Depot, one inside and the other outside texting to the individual in the store.
When Lady Lake police closed in, the two suspects took off in their car, in the direction of Rolling Acres Plaza. Their car was involved in a minor traffic accident before police took one of them into custody.
The second suspect went over the fence into the Oak Meadows subdivision behind Target and fled on foot in the direction of Duck Lake Road. Because police feared he might try to make his way toward the school, which was in the process of dismissal, the school was put under a brief lockdown.
