A driver who ran a red light fled the scene of a crash Thursday morning in Spanish Springs.
Marie May Harris, 67, of The Villages, had been driving a 2017 Ford Edge utility vehicle at 8:05 a.m. northbound on Paige Place at Avenida Central and had the green light, according to a preliminary accident report from the Lady Lake Police Department. Her vehicle was struck by a 2016 Chrysler four-door sedan which ran a red light, according to the report.
The driver of the Chrysler fled on foot.
Police contacted the registered owner of the Chrysler and she gave them the name of the man who had been operating the vehicle.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
