A University of Florida student told a police officer she felt “peer pressure” in a shoplifting incident last week at Belk in The Villages.
Hannah Corin Beckham, 21, of Lady Lake entered the La Plaza Grande store on Saturday afternoon, put items into her purse and attempted to leave the store without paying for them, according to an incident report from the Lady Lake Police Department. The items she attempted to take were a Fossil wallet, Capri perfume and an Anne Cole bra.
She told a police officer it was the first time she tried stealing and did it because she was “feeling depressed and peer pressured,” according to the report.
She was issued a misdemeanor citation and ordered to stay out of Belk.
