To the Editor:

OK, time for a mini rant. In a recent Villages-News.com edition, there was an article on a crackdown on illegal parking in and around The Villages. There is even a frequent site that shows how people abuse parking with, mainly golf carts and also their cars. The most that’s been done is if these vehicles are seen, community watch will put a notice on the cart telling you you’re parked wrong. I have stated before and I’ll say it again, cars need to be registered, so why not the golf carts too? Very simple to do. Once a year say on the date you move here, you go into the main office at Lake Sumter or to any other place The Villages designates and pay a fee (I think $10-$20) and they issue you a numbered sticker good for one year that you put on the windshield of your cart. That way your cart can be identified and ticketed. In all states boats, recreational vehicles, etc. are identified this way, so why not the 50,000 plus golf carts here.
Any comments?
