A resident of the Village of Alhambra urged Community Development District 2 supervisors to take action with regard to a home that has fallen into disrepair.
Robert Hall lives next door to the former home of resident Eugene Nelson, who is deceased. The home is located at 1705 Campos Drive within Villa De Leon.
The weeds at the home are overgrown and he claims there is mold growing inside.
The utilities had been shut off, but Hall said the electricity has been turned back on.
“They had an estate sale in March,” Hall said.
He said at that time someone backed a car out of the garage at the property.
“It’s been there ever since,” Hall said.
The license plate on the Nissan Altima in the driveway will expire next month.
Community Standards is trying to work with the mortgage company on upkeep of the property.
“Somebody has to do something to clean it up,” Hall said. “When you have it right next to you, it’s awful.”
He said he is hoping to sell his home.
CDD 2 Chairman John Blum offered sympathy, but cautioned Hall that it can take time to resolve these situations. He noted that CDD 2 has some similar cases that date back to 2010.
The board voted to begin imposing fines if the property is not brought into compliance.
