A woman was jailed after she was spotted doing some late-night loitering at La Plaza Grande North in The Villages.
A Lady Lake police officer spotted 49-year-old Rebecca Sue Bennett of Belleview at about 1 a.m. Tuesday in a dimly lit area on the Historic Side of The Villages.
When the officer approached Bennett, she walked away and tried to get into a vehicle and leave, according to an arrest report. Bennett refused to identify herself and said she was “tired of being harassed.”
When the officer attempted to restrain her, Bennett pulled away.
After she was handcuffed, she still refused to provide identification information, and would not say what she was doing at a closed business at that time of night.
She was arrested on charges of loitering/prowling and resisting arrest. She was booked at the Lake County Jail on $1,000 bond.
