Summerfield man in stable condition after crash on Interstate 75 in Sumter County

A 48-year-old Summerfield man was in stable condition at Leesburg Regional Medical Center after being injured in a crash early Monday morning on Interstate 75 in Sumter County.

Thadd Vernon Cross was transported by ambulance from the scene of the crash which occurred at 6:25 a.m. at Mile Marker 329, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Cross had been standing near a disabled vehicle which had been pulling a trailer and was parked by the side of the roadway.

A truck driven by Joshua Tee Johnson, 30, of Sharpsburg, Ga., collided with the parked vehicles, and Cross was pinched between them, the FHP report indicated.

Johnson was cited for careless driving for colliding with a disabled vehicle.
