56-year-old woman dies after being airlifted from scene of two-car collision in Marion County

A 56-year-old Dunnellon woman died after being airlifted from the scene of a two-car collision Friday afternoon in Marion County.

Vicki Belcher died at Ocala Regional Medical Center from injuries suffered in the accident.

She had been at the wheel of 2017 Toyota at 3:45 p.m. when it collided with a 1999 Nissan Altima driven by Joseph Randall Payne, 22, of Belleview, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The Nissan Altima, which had been eastbound on State Road 40, veered across the center line and struck Belcher’s westbound vehicle.

Payne was seriously injured and was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center.
