Roger E. Schacklinscky

Roger E. Schacklinscky, 85 of Lady Lake, FL, passed away on April 27, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He has been a resident of Lady Lake since 1991, moving here from Montrose, NY.

Roger was born in Port Chester, NY, son of Edward and Martha (Mehling) Schacklinscky. He was raised in Mamaroneck, NY and attended local schools.

Roger enjoyed a 40 year career as a Senior Environmental Technician at Con Edison of New York. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served his country in the Korean War. Roger was Past President of the Westchester County Volunteer Firemen’s Association, a lifetime member and Past President of the Cortlandt Engine Company in Montrose, NY and a Captain in the Columbia Engine and Hose Company #2 in Mamaroneck, NY, a member of NYS Volunteer Firemens Association and a member of the Hudson Valley Firemens Association.

Roger is survived by his wife Barbara (DeMarco) and daughters; Sharon (Bill) McGreevy of Wingdale, NY, Debbie (Tom) Rolando of Ellicott City, MD and Janet (Jerry) Fuller of Holly Hill, FL. He also leaves grandchildren Elizabeth, Katherine, Ryan, Joey, Tommy, JT and Joshua (Miriam) and great-grandchildren Lucas and Riley. Roger was predeceased by his parents, his brother Theo and grandson Zachary Fuller.

A Celebration of Roger’s Life will be held on Sunday, May 6 at 2 p.m. at the Beyers Funeral Home 134 North Highway 27/441 in Lady Lake. A visitation for family and friends will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Burial, with full military honors, will be held on Monday, May 7 at 2 p.m. at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
