Marion County deputies arrested a woman who refused to cooperate with them Monday following a verbal altercation at a house in Belleview.
According to a sheriff’s office report, Destiny Rochelle Leibold, 20, was standing by her vehicle in the driveway of a home located in the 5400 block of SE 12th Lane when a deputy asked her for identification. She told the deputy it was inside the vehicle, so he told her to just tell him her name and pertinent information.
Instead, Leibold ignored the deputy’s request and tried to enter the vehicle, the report states. The deputy asked Leibold for her information again and she tried to enter the vehicle from a different door.
The deputy told Leibold that he had asked her twice not to enter the vehicle for safety reasons, at which point she attempted to enter it a third time through the driver’s side door.
The deputy told Leibold that he was going to detain her because she refused to follow his directions. But when he attempted to place her hands behind her back to be handcuffed, Leibold tried to pull away multiple times, the report says.
Another deputy helped get Leibold in handcuffs, but then she refused to put her feet inside the patrol car. So, the second deputy had to enter the vehicle from the other side and assist with getting Leibold into the back seat, the report states.
Leibold’s wallet, which contained her driver’s license, was sitting in plain view on the driver’s seat of the vehicle.
Leibold was transported to the Marion County Jail and charged with two counts of resisting an officer – obstruction by a disguised person and obstruction without violence. She was held on $100 bond.
