The Lady Lake Commission has approved a RV storage facility over the objections of neighboring residents in the Historic Side of The Villages and the Lakes of Lady Lake.

Lighthouse Storage LLC plans to build the facility on 26 acres on County Road 25 just south of the Lakes of Lady Lake subdivision. You can see specifics of the plan at Lighthouse Storage, LLC Concept Plan 12-21-2017.

Residents Monday night expressed to the Lady Lake Commission concerns about traffic, property values and noise.

“My concern is safety,” said Chris Mangino of the Lakes of Lady Lake. “We will have to drop the speed limit so we don’t have fatalities on this road.”

Greg Beliveau of LPG Urban and Regional Planners, who is representing the developer who wants to build the RV facility, said the hours of operation would be 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., allaying concerns about nighttime activity.

As a concession to residents, a wall or vinyl fence will go up, separating homes from the RV storage facility. Also, Lighthouse Storage LLC will go “above and beyond” in providing landscape buffers, said Lady Lake Growth Management Director Thad Carroll.

“I am glad to see you are working with the neighbors and providing a wall,” Commissioner Ruth Kussard told Beliveau.

The storage facility will move forward after receiving a unanimous vote Monday from the commission.

Beliveau noted it will be a lengthy approval process and will also include going before Lake County officials.

“We are trying to be a good neighbor,” Beliveau said.
