Eleanor Louise (Sartelle) Houston, 92 years old, of Leesburg, FL, passed peacefully on June 27, 2018 surrounded by her children.
Born and raised in Barre, VT, and a longtime resident of Arlington, MA, she retired as Group Chief Manager at the New England Telephone Company and later moved to Leesburg, FL with her husband of 58 years, George J. Houston, Jr. (“Grumpie”).
She is the beloved mother of Kathleen (Ross) Fenton, Robert (Paula), George III, Michelle, and Douglas (Karen), sister of Ernest Gray Sartelle, sister-in-law of Patricia “Mary” White, adored “Grammie” to Amy, Ross “Chip” (Javier Peral), Robert (Nancy), George IV, Timothy, Christopher, Brian, Thomas, Kelly, and Ryan J., aunt to many Houstons, Sartelles, Whites, and Lepores, and great-grandmother of Ryan C.; many of whom were fortunate to join her on adventures in Maine, both in Norway and at Keoka Beach.
She will be reunited in “angel heaven” with her husband, brothers, grandson Jeffrey, and her many pets whom she adored. We expect there will be lots of figure skating, card playing, and square dancing in her future.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and services will follow at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 29 at Beyers Funeral Home, 134 N US Highway 441, Lady Lake, FL (352) 753-4444. Interment will begin at 1:30 p.m. at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513 (352) 793-7740.
