Members of the Community Emergency Response Team of The Villages are planning a seminar to teach residents how to be prepared for a disaster.
The seminar is titled “Are You Ready?” and it will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. July 21 at the Paradise Recreation Center.
At the two-hour event, residents will have the opportunity to learn:
• What disasters can occur in our area;
• The importance of family disaster planning;
• Facts about hurricanes;
• Facts about wildfires;
• How to develop a written family disaster plan;
• How to develop a family evacuation plan;
• How to develop a family communication plan;
• How to plan for special needs;
• How to plan for pet needs;
• How to put together a disaster supplies kit;
• How to recover from a disaster; and
• How to help others before and after a disaster.
