A man was arrested after allegedly texting and terrorizing a woman who lives in the Villages of Parkwood.
Wildwood police at about noon Thursday arrested 54-year-old Jay Sanchez on charges of stalking and extortion.
He had repeatedly texted and threatened a woman who runs a business in The Villages, which Villages-News.com has opted not to identify. He had been calling the woman at “all hours of the day,” leaving several voice mails and group messaging the woman’s church group, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department.
The woman had ended all communication with Sanchez on Sunday. However, he continued to text and call not only her, but also her “co-workers, friends and family.”
Sanchez had gone to the woman’s home on July 12. When she arrived home, he used his body to try to block her vehicle from accessing the garage, the report said. He was able to gain access to her garage and the woman had to threaten to notify law enforcement by activating her home alarm system. The next day he sent her another threatening text message, the report said.
He had also threatened to publish damaging information about the woman and her business.
Sanchez was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center where he was initially being held without bond.
