An Ocala man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after a woman claimed he grabbed her by the throat and choked her several times.
The woman told Marion County sheriff’s deputies that she got into an argument with 33-year-old Amos Lee Hall that soon turned physical. She said he attacked her and she had problems breathing when being choked, a sheriff’s office report states.
The woman also claimed that Hall punched her on the left side of her head several times before she was able to get away and call 911 for help. Deputies noted in their report that the woman had a red scratch mark on the outer part of her right arm and red marks on her throat.
Hall admitting to arguing with the woman but denied the altercation turned physical. He claimed the woman woke up, became angry and started arguing with him, the report says.
Hall, who lives on SW 38th Avenue, was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail. He was charged with domestic battery by strangulation and released late Thursday night on $2,000 bond.
Hall is scheduled to appear in a Marion County courtroom on Sept. 4 at 9 a.m. to answer to the charge.
