The lone bidder for bunker work at two golf courses in The Villages came in nearly $6,000 over budget.

Landirr Inc. submitted the $59,981 bid for work at the Amberwood and Oakleigh executive golf courses. The bid, which was $5,981 higher than the $54,000 that had been budgeted, was approved Wednesday morning by the Amenity Authority Committee.

Eric Van Gorder, director of executive golf in The Villages, said the work had been moved up due to concerns heard from residents.

Village of Chatham resident Richard Carlson said he was happy to see the project moving forward, but asked that the golf course replenishment program “be more transparent” in the future.
