To the Editor:
I was brought to attention by the letter written by an Air Force veteran that was headlined “Trump’s leadership by example style is infectious.” He claimed Trump is “shining the light of truth on corruption, the deep state, and the hypocrisy of the left.”
Excuse me! Read the book “The Death of Truth” by Michiko Kakutani. It will open your eyes to exactly how interested in “the light of truth” our president is. The Washington Post recently ran a fact-check and discovered that Trump has made 4,229 false statements (read that “lies”) during his first 558 days in office.
I’m sure Trump would consider that to be “fake news” in his inexorable campaign to discredit the media.
Trump’s demagoguery would be funny if it weren’t so scary. Didn’t Hitler and Mussolini begin their quest for power by discrediting the news media and finally consuming them? Give it some thought.
