A snowbird is out more than $5,000 worth of medications, hearing aids and glasses after a theft at a hotel in The Villages.
The 86-year-old man from New Hampshire had checked in this past Thursday afternoon at La Hacienda Hotel on Avenida Central, according to an incident report from the Lady Lake Police Department. He was traveling with a female companion and went to the room they were checking into, but did not have a key. He left a backpack and a light blue jacket by the door at the room and went back to the car. When the couple returned to the room, the backpack and jacket were gone.
The backpack contained several medications, a glucose test meter and supplies, hearing aids, glasses, LG tablet and various charging cords. The value of the items was estimated to be $5,450.
