Power outages reported in large swath across The Villages near Spanish Springs

A large area of The Villages around Spanish Springs Town Square lost power Tuesday night shortly before 9 p.m.

These orange and yellow areas show where power outages hit a portion of The Villages on Tuesday night.

The outage, which extended from Teague Trail in Lady Lake to Lauren Lane near the Orange Blossom Hills Country Club, was affecting 2,318 Duke Energy customers as of 11 p.m.

Some of the areas that experienced the power outage included Spanish Springs Town Square, the Oak Meadows subdivision, homes around the Chula Vista Golf Course, portions of Ramos Drive, homes in the Historic Side of Florida’s Friendliest Hometown around Lake Paradise reaching all the way to Griffin Avenue, and a large area around Sam’s Club, Home Depot and Lady Lake City Hall.

It was unclear what caused the multiple outages, but Duke Energy’s website stated that repairs crews were on the way to the area.
