Michigan man arrested after alleged attack on sleeping trucker over parking spot

Brian James Cozzie

A Michigan man was arrested after an alleged attack on a sleeping trucker over a parking spot in Wildwood.

The trucker had been sleeping in his rig Sunday night at the TA Travel Center on State Road 44 when 51-year-old Brian James Cozzie of Eaton Rapids, Mich. began banging on his truck, ordering him to move, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The trucker, who was utilizing two parking spaces, said he was not going to move and closed the window.

Cozzie used a Thermos to smash a window in the cab and then appeared to be reaching for a gun in his waistband.

The trucker got his own gun and fired a round into the air to deter Cozzie from attempting to enter his truck.

Cozzie was arrested on a third-degree felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

He was booked on $25,000 bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.
