Lake County’s annual ‘State of the County’ presentation planned this week

The Lake County Board of County Commissioners will host its annual State of the County presentation at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4.

The meeting will be held in the County Commission Chambers at the Lake County Administration Building, located at 315 W. Main St. in Tavares. This year’s theme, “A Spirit of Service,” will highlight the achievements of the board, such as budget efficiencies, public safety improvements, economic development and tourism initiatives.

The State of the County program, which will be led by Board Chairman Timothy Sullivan, will include the induction of the late Mabel Norris Reese into the Women’s Hall of Fame by Vice Chairman Leslie Campione. Sheriff Peyton Grinnell also will give special recognition to the first responders who assisted in the security and recovery operations during Hurricane Michael.

A brief intermission will then follow before the start of the regularly scheduled commission meeting. The election of officers, in which a chairman and vice chairman are chosen, will take place at the beginning of the regular board meeting. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
