A man was arrested at a popular restaurant in The Villages one day after outrunning police at Brownwood Paddock Square.
Tabias Rydell James, 29, of Wildwood, had been pulled over at about 10 p.m. Monday near the Barnstorm Theater, according to a Wildwood Police Department arrest report. The officer was aware that James’ driver’s license had been suspended for failure to pay child support. When the officer asked to see James’ license, he broke away and ran across Brownwood Paddock Square. Police looked for him, but eventually called off the search.
Police showed up at 9:20 p.m. Tuesday at James’ place of employment, Bluefin Grill and Bar, also at Brownwood Paddock Square. He was arrested on charges of resisting arrest and driving while license suspended. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $2,000 bond.
James has two previous arrests this year. In January, he was was jailed after attacking a woman in front of her children. In August, he was arrested after allegedly firing a gun at a house after an angry dispute over a card game.
