A suspected thief was arrested after fleeing from store personnel at Bealls.
Rashea Kentavia Young, 38, of Ocala, on Thursday entered the store on U.S. Hwy. 441 in Lady Lake and concealed a pair of red Nike shoes in his jacket, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. He also stuffed a Nike shirt in the front of his pants.
Young was confronted by store personnel after leaving the store and they re-entered the store. Once inside, Young threw down the merchandise and store personnel attempted to subdue him. Young pushed back and fled the store in the direction of Cracker Barrel. A deputy arrived on the scene, viewed the surveillance footage and later spotted Young along U.S. 441.
He was arrested on charges of battery and petit theft and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. He was released after posting $2,500 bond.
He has a prior conviction in Marion County for dealing in stolen property.
