Darrell’s Diner will be taking over popular eatery at Southern Trace Plaza in The Villages

Darrell’s Diner will be taking over a popular eatery at Southern Trace Plaza in The Villages.

The SonRise Cafe will be shutting down this Sunday and re-opening in January as a Darrell’s Diner.

SonRise Cafe owner Carol Laufersky has indicated she will devote more of her time and effort to her other venture, Sammy Joe’s Pizzeria at Mulberry Grove Plaza.

This move gives Darrell’s Diner a larger footprint in The Villages. Darrell’s Diners are already opening at Pinellas Plaza and at La Plaza Grande in Spanish Springs. A Darrell’s Diner is planned for the new Teague Plaza on County Road 25 on the back end of the Historic Side of The Villages though it has faced opposition before the Lady Lake Commission.
