The Indo-American Club of The Villages held its inaugural event at the Pimlico Recreation Center this past Thursday.

With more than 200 people in attendance, the evening featured Indian food, henna decorating, a fashion show of silk saris and men’s traditional costumes from several areas of India, a presentation of musical instruments and Bhangra dancing with the attendees.

Club president Dr. Sashi Marwah said the goal was to bring together Indian residents of The Villages, along with others who have lived in India and people who enjoy Indian culture, cuisine and traditions.

Marwah immigrated to the U.S. in 1972 and was a primary care physician prior to moving to the Village of Belvedere.
