Facebook followers credited with identifying Summerfield Wal-Mart bandits

Michael Victor Ferioli

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is offering a huge thank you to followers of its Facebook page.

That’s because those followers helped identify a man and woman who are being accused of stealing more than $1,500 worth of merchandise from the Summerfield Wal-Mart on Sunday night. The sheriff’s office posted images taken from surveillance footage of the two inside the store – and within five minutes, they had been positively identified.

Michael Victor Ferioli, 35, was arrested Monday night and charged with larceny/grand theft and resisting arrest without violence. He was being held in the Marion County Jail on no bond and is due to appear in court Feb. 12 at 9 a.m. to answer to the charges.

Followers of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page identified the man and woman in these surveillance photos from the Summerfield Wal-Mart within five minutes after they were posted Sunday night.

The woman with Ferioli was shown in the surveillance footage wearing blue jeans, a dark shirt and jacket and sunglasses on top of her head. Her identity hasn’t yet been released by the sheriff’s office and it’s unclear if she’s already been arrested.

The couple also is accused of fleeing from the Wal-Mart, located at 17961 S. U.S. Hwy. 27/441, in a red, older-model pickup truck with a camper shell on it. Witnesses reported them “tearing” through the parking lot and nearly striking several other vehicles, a sheriff’s office report states.
