A New Yorker received a written warning after her cat ran loose at Water Oak in Lady Lake.

The Calico Hemingway cat named Kali was impounded by Lady Lake Animal Control after it was caught in a trap Jan. 17 at a home on Bishop Drive in Water Oak. The cat was not wearing a collar and was not microchipped.

The woman who owns the 14-year-old cat showed up to reclaim her feline later that same day. She was able to show proof the cat had been vaccinated against rabies in New York.

The woman was issued a written warning for allowing the cat to run loose, which is prohibited by a town ordinance.
