A 20-year-old woman admitted she was “ashamed” of herself after she was caught stealing at Target at Rolling Acres Plaza.
Serena Elane Halferty of Summerfield entered the store Tuesday afternoon and took a drink from the grocery section, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. She walked to the bedding aisle where she consumed it and then put the container into a wastebasket.
Halferty then selected a pair of cubic zirconia earrings and removed them from the packaging. She stuck the earrings in her back pocket. She selected three shirts and stuffed them into her purse.
Store personnel followed her out of the store and ordered her to return.
When police arrived on the scene, Halferty admitted what she had done. She said she “was very ashamed of herself,” the report said.
She was issued a notice to appear on Feb. 5 in Lake County Court to answer to a charge of theft.
