Exposure to lies, stupidity, ignorance and hate are a daily occurrence. Too often, politics has a distant relationship with the truth. It’s more about election and power. The media is truth challenged as well. They seem to be more about bias and profit. Politicians, media and other people can not be forced to tell the truth. Deal with it! It’s been said about stupidity that “you can’t fix” it. Scott Adams recently said that “stupidity is like nuclear power; it can be used for good or evil and you don’t want to get any on you.” There’s little hope for stupidity because it is dependent on mental capacity or purposeful intent. Fortunately, most people, some politicians, and a few media sources are not stupid and do not intentionally lie. Ignorance is rampant. It can be mitigated but not completely overcome. If we are not lazy, remain curious and cast a wide net for reliable sources of information, it can be lessened. It’s prudent to take the next critical step of thinking. Hate can be overcome by individuals because it’s a personal choice. Institutional hate is a different ballgame because of group think complications. The point of hate is to hurt and humiliate someone. Hate does not challenge opposing beliefs, but intends to destroy those who hold them. You can deal with hate by hating back (stupid) or recognize it as the character flaw it is. All hate is self destructive, ignominious waste.
