An accident report has identified the Villager airlifted Tuesday morning after a golf cart crash on Morse Boulevard.
Edwin Stuart Livingston, 71, of the Village of Bridgeport at Lake Sumter, had been at the wheel of a red EZ-GO golf cart at 8:05 a.m. traveling northbound on Morse Boulevard when he collided with a tan 2017 Yamaha golf cart which had been traveling south on Morse Boulevard, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
The driver of the Yamaha golf cart, 67-year-old Jesse James Elser, of the Village of Rio Ranchero, had been making a left turn onto Martinez Drive and entered into the path of Livingston’s oncoming golf cart. Elser told the FHP investigator he had been blinded by the glare of the morning sun. Livingston’s golf cart then hit the curb and he was thrown from the vehicle.
Livingston was transported to UF Shands Hospital in Gainesville.
Elser escaped injury in the crash.
Livingston’s EZ-GO golf cart sports a prominent Village Pet Spa decal. Livingston’s wife, Marcia Gosline, purchased the kennel and grooming facility on Rolling Acres Road in 2013.
