A landscaper paid his tab with a bogus $100 bill at a popular nightspot at Spanish Springs Town Square.
The 42-year-old Lady Lake man was at Margarita Republic on the night of Feb. 2 when the counterfeit bill was flagged by a manager at The Villages restaurant, according to an incident report from the Lady Lake Police Department.
The landscaper said he is frequently paid with cash and was unaware that the bill was bogus. All other currency he had was legitimate.
