A 55-year-old resident of The Villages was killed in an accident early this morning near the golf cart bridge over U.S. Hwy. 27/441.
The accident occurred at 2:24 a.m. when the woman, who was in the roadway, was struck by a 2016 Audi A3 driven by 18-year old Logan Keith Zock of Citra, according to a preliminary accident report from the Lady Lake Police Department. He said he saw an “object” in the roadway but could not change lanes due to a vehicle next to his. A passenger in his car, 19-year-old Alexandria Suarez of Citra, told police she also saw an “object” in the roadway.
The deceased woman’s name is not being released pending next of kin notification. She was a resident of the Historic Side.
Next to the woman, police found a set of keys to a Chevrolet that was found parked at Spanish Springs.
Police have not ruled out the possibility that she came off the bridge before being struck by the vehicle.
The woman’s body was removed from the scene by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
