Shane Diamond

A man who reportedly sells drugs was arrested in Lady Lake.

Shane Diamond, 33, of Fruitland Park, was at the wheel of a Toyota Tundra at about 3 a.m. March 2 when he turned from County Road 466 onto Clay Avenue, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. He was caught on radar traveling at 35 miles per hour in a 25 mph zone.

After an officer began pursuing him, Diamond ditched the truck in the 300 block of Oak Street and fled on foot, leaving behind a woman and a 13-year-old. Another officer apprehended Diamond and brought him back to the truck. A check revealed Diamond’s driver’s license was revoked. A K-9 alerted on the truck, indicating the likely presence of drugs.

A search turned up 10.8 grams of methamphetamine in a zippered pouch. It also contained cash and a prepaid debit card. The woman who had been in the truck said the pouch did not belong to her and she said Diamond sells drugs. She had a suboxone strip in her purse, but she was able to produce a prescription for it.

Diamond was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine and driving while license suspended. He was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $4,000 bond.
