To the Editor:

I read the headline “Officials are hoping to provide some relief in the ongoing parking war at Fenney Putt & Play.”
I do have compassion for the homeowners that live next to the Putt & Play but this relief so needs to go beyond enforcing no parking for those homeowners close to this facility.
I have a dear friend, in her 90’s who had a fall five years ago that left her unable to golf. Golf was her life. I would so love to take her to the Putt and Play, which she could do, even though she uses a walker.  But coming from the Village of Rio Grande, a golf cart ride is out of the question and a half-mile walk after driving out there to the Putt & Play just does not work for her either.
Really, not even any handicap parking? My friend pays her monthly amenities like the rest of us. The Villages seriously needs to fix this for the elderly/handicapped as well as those residents nearby that do not want people parking in front of their house. This Putt & Play should neither be for only the Fenney residents nor should it be for only those fit enough to hike the half mile to the nearest parking provided. All amenities, as is advertised, should be for all Villages residents. Shame on the “officials” for such poor planning and then for further refusing to address this problem for all when things obviously went sour.
