
A woman who said she had her “friend’s dope” in her purse was arrested after she was after spotted in a vehicle with a faulty tag light at a busy intersection in The Villages.
Kayla Noelle Morgan, 23, of Leesburg, was traveling in a white Dodge Avenger at 9:32 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of Avenida Central and Griffin Avenue when a Lady Lake police officer noticed the vehicle’s inoperable tag light. A traffic stop was initiated at a nearby CVS Pharmacy.
A K-9 unit was summoned to the scene and the dog alerted on the vehicle, indicating the likely presence of drugs.
Morgan “spontaneously” admitted she had her “friend’s dope” in her purse. A white crystal substance that tested positive for methamphetamine and a needle were found in Morgan’s purse. In addition, a plastic bag was found in Morgan’s wallet and it also contained methamphetamine.
Morgan was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was booked at the Lake County Jail on $3,000 bond.
