Opal Douglas

Opal E. Douglas, 73, of Wildwood, passed away May 22, 2019 in Leesburg. Opal was born on January 24, 1946 in Lakeland to Carlton and Eloise (Caldwell) Gay. Opal married the love of her life Jimmy Douglas Sr. on March 10, 1960 in Sanford.

Opal loved her family, she was a homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved to bake and cook and would make each person their favorite cake for their birthday. Opal was a member of the Adamsville Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time reading her Bible. Opal would spend time making floral arrangements, doing crafts and taking trips to the beach.

Opal is survived by Jimmy Douglas Sr. her husband of 59 years, son Jimmy Jr. and Diane Douglas of Sumterville, son Johnny Carlton and Joyce Douglas of Wildwood, brother Carlton and Joyce Gay of Williston, brother Jerry and Tammy Gay of Wildwood, sister Ruby and George Havener of Tennessee, 6 grandchildren; Daniel, Jennifer, Nichole, Justin, Jonathan, Ashton, 11 great-grandchildren; Curtis, Courtlyn, Austin, Mya, Haylee, Colton, Weston, Savannah, Alivia, Ava, and Layna.

Opal is preceded in death by her parents and infant son Richard Curtis Douglas.

Visitation for friends and family will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2019 from 5-7 PM at Banks/Page-Theus Funeral home in Wildwood. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 26 2019 at Banks/Page-Theus Funeral Home at 1:00 PM with burial following at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Leesburg.
