Fundraiser at Havana Country Club to raise money for Snack Packs for needy students

A fundraiser to help the Wildwood Soup Kitchen provide Snack Packs to area children will be held next month in The Villages.

The event, which will be at the Havana Country Club, runs from 2-4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25, with complimentary appetizers at 3 p.m.

Those wishing to attend can go online at wildwoodsoupkitchen.org and pre-purchase a wristband for a $10 donation. Only 200 will be sold, so those interested in attending the fundraiser that will feature music by Sentimental Reflections and happy hour drink prices are encouraged to act fast.

The Snack Pack program supplies food to children in need. Meals are discreetly placed in backpacks each Friday to qualifying students. Ninety percent of Wildwood Elementary School students live in poverty, so the Soup Kitchen is hoping for an even bigger outreach than normal.

Those who can’t attend are encouraged to drop off snacks at the Havana Country Club in June from noon to 8 p.m. Needed items include:

  • Individual pouches of chicken or tuna;
  • Single servings of Beanie Weenies or similar items;
  • Fruit cups;
  • Juice boxes; and
  • Granola Bars.
