A Dollars for Scholars thank you

Jim Zurak

The strength and character of any community may be measured in the type of support that they offer to those whose needs exceed their abilities. Dollars for Scholars has been a recipient/agent for our community for 12 years, accepting the challenge of providing scholarship funds to financially distressed high school graduates of our two local high schools. Through community support of various fund-raising entertainment activities like the STARRY Musical Variety  and the Dancing With “our” Stars programs, D4S has raised over $450,000 and awarded scholarships to over 160 graduating seniors in our two high schools.

This same community support has allowed Dollars for Scholars to distribute $50,000 in scholarship funds for 2019. In addition, we will distribute $13,000 from our Lake Sumter State College endowment funds. All because of you!

Dollars for Scholars, through the strength of community support, works to light the lamp of education for those who may not posses neither the support nor the financial resources to achieve that goal. Our two operating mantras are Every child needs a Helping Hand – May we borrow Yours? and Help Us – Help You – Help Kids.

It has been through the patronage and community support, of the several fund-raising programs presented annually by Dollars for Scholars, that we have been privileged to act as distribution agents of America’s Friendliest Home Town and quite probably – America’s Most Generous Home Town.

Please accept the organizations most sincere Thanks and Appreciation for your past and, always hoped for, continuing support.

Villager J.R. “Jim” Zurak is a Dollars for Scholars member and volunteer.
