Maryland man arrested twice in 24 hours at hotel in The Villages

David Bruce Kimmel

A Maryland man was arrested twice within a 24-hour time period at a hotel in The Villages.

Lady Lake police were called at 6:45 p.m. Friday to the La Hacienda Hotel at 1201 Avenida Central, where they found 61-year-old David Kimmel sitting on a desk in the front office. He had a brown paper bag which contained a bottle that appeared to contain an alcoholic beverage, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. He said he had been drinking since 6 a.m. An officer attempted to escort Kimmel outside, but he “could barely stand up without falling over.” He used profanity toward the officers.

He was arrested on a charge of disorderly intoxication and booked at the Lake County Jail. He posted $500 and was released from the jail at 3:35 a.m. Saturday.

La Hacienda Hotel was the original hotel in The Villages.

He was dropped off at the La Hacienda Hotel by a bail bondsman. Kimmel went to his room, apparently unaware he had been trespassed from the hotel. He was arrested on a charge of trespassing and booked at the Lake County Jail. Bond was set at $2,000.

Kimmel had been arrested in May at the swimming pool at Orange Blossom Hills Country Club.
