A homeless man was arrested after allegedly stealing Curley’s BBQ pork at a store in Lady Lake.
Sherman James, 27, was captured on video on Monday when he entered the Dollar General store on U.S. Hwy. 27/441, approached a cooler and removed the BBQ pork, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. It was noted on the surveillance video that James was wearing his hat backward. The packaging from the $4.50 merchandise was found outside the store.
The following day, James was spotted in the vicinity of U.S. Hwy. 27/441 and Griffin View Drive wearing the same clothing and the backward hat.
A pipe used for smoking narcotics was found in an eyeglass case in James’ pocket.
He was arrested on charges of theft and possession of drug paraphernalia and booked at the Lake County Jail. Bond was set $1,500.
