A pair of golf cart thieves already facing charges in the theft of golf carts from The Villages Golf Cars and Lowe’s were apparently involved in additional heists.
Charges continue to add up against 26-year-old Joseph Daryl Ross, of Webster, and 21-year-old Joshua Steven Mitchell, of Wildwood. Both men continue to be lodged at the Sumter County Detention Center, where Ross was being held on $18,000 bond and Mitchell was being held on $17,000 bond.
They were arrested earlier this week in connection with the theft of a silver Yamaha golf cart from The Villages Golf Cars at Brownwood and the theft of a golf cart from Lowe’s.
The two have been implicated in the June 13 theft of a 2009 gas-powered green Yamaha golf cart with a dump bed on back. They also have been linked to the June 12 attempted theft of a 2005 gas-powered blue Yamaha golf cart. In that case Ross and Mitchell were captured on video surveillance attempting to steal the golf cart and inflicting $100 in damage to the ignition. They were able to move the golf cart to another location and abandon it.
