A Villagers’ son was thrown from his parents’ golf cart in a crash at a tunnel near Brownwood.
John Daniel Sledd II, 39, had been at the wheel of a 2018 Yamaha golf cart at 7:03 p.m. Thursday when it crashed at a tunnel that runs under County Road 44A at Buena Vista Boulevard, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
Sledd, the son of John Daniel and Debra Sledd of 750 Rockingham Road, was totally ejected, the report said. He was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center, having suffered “incapacitating” injuries, according to FHP.
Two six-year-old girls, Jade Sledd and Eden Sledd, who had been riding in the golf cart were also transported to ORMC. They were not ejected from the golf cart.
The golf cart did not have seatbelts, the report noted. The golf cart sustained an estimated $4,500 in damage. It had to be towed from the scene.
The investigator wrote in the report that Sledd had “operated motor vehicle in careless or negligent manner.”
