Huey P. McFarland, 90, of Oxford, Florida went to be with his Lord on Monday, June 24, 2019.

Huey was a devoted Christian and missionary.  Through his real-estate investing he was able to begin his missionary work by opening and funding an orphanage in Haiti from the late 1970’s until 2004 when the military coup occurred.  During this time his missionary work continued as he started and became President of Mercy Medical Missions in 1981.  Mercy Medical Missions built and supports a church, medical clinic and school in the rural Mexican mountains and continues to invest these same resources in other economically starved areas to help those most in need.  Throughout his life, Huey’s Christianity was also apparent in the central Florida area as he opened multiple new churches within Orange, Lake and Sumter counties.

Huey is survived by his wife of more than 40 years Louise; his sons Marvin (Judy) and Norman (Raynell);  daughters Sharon (Al) Paquette and Deborah (Dion) Shreiner; his step-sons Dwight (Karen)  Whitaker, Carl Whitaker, Stephen (Nancy) Whitaker, Stuart Whitaker and Daniel Whitaker; his step-daughter Judy Harvey; his grandchildren Shal Paquette, Lacy Emiba, Dawson Shreiner, Danielle Wheeler and a multitude of step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and his brother AV McFarland.

He is preceded in death by his sister Ruby and his parents.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 11 am, located at Hiers-Baxley Funeral and Cremation Life Event Center, 3975 Wedgewood Lane, The Villages, FL 32162. A graveside service with military honors will be on Monday, July 1, 2019 at 11 am, at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734.
