A Village of Sanbiel bicyclist is recovering after he was struck in a roundabout last week in The Villages.
Dan Humiston on June 25 was riding his bicycle to a Sumter Landing Bicycle Club ride when the crash occurred. Humiston was riding in the inside lane of the Pinellas Place roundabout on Buena Vista Boulevard preparing to cross onto Pinellas Place.
A truck stopped on the northbound right lane of Buena Vista Boulevard, waiting for him to pass. The car that hit Humiston entered the roundabout from the northbound left lane of Buena Vista Boulevard, according to a report from the club.
The driver said she did not see Humiston and she did not slow down when she entered the roundabout. Humiston did see her coming, but could not get out of her way. She hit the right side of his back tire. Humiston’s injuries were significant road rash and a bad headache.
