Villager transported to Ocala hospital after golf cart rolls over on multi-modal path

The release of an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol is shedding light on a Villager’s golf cart rollover last week that saw him transported by ambulance to Ocala Regional Medical Center.

William Joseph Mills Jr., 74, of the Village of Santo Domingo, had been driving a black 2004 Yamaha golf cart at 3 p.m. July 15 on the golf cart path along Morse Boulevard about 800 feet south of County Road 466 when the accident occurred, the report said.

Mills had been negotiating a curve on the multi-modal path when his golf cart overturned onto its left side. He was transported by Sumter EMS to ORMC. The investigator estimated the golf cart had been traveling at 25 miles per hour at the time of the accident.

Mills was ticketed on a charge of careless driving.

The golf cart was removed from the scene by Wildwood Towing.
