A Subway employee was nabbed at work in the theft of a pregnancy test.
Daveisha Beontae Barnes, 18, was wearing her Subway uniform on Saturday when she went into the Dollar General store on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 in Lady Lake and removed the packaging from a Rexall One Step pregnancy test valued at $6.95, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. She was captured on video leaving the store without paying for the item.
The manager of the Dollar General went to the Subway restaurant on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 in Lady Lake and saw that Barnes was working there. He contacted police, who arrived on the scene and issued Barnes a misdemeanor citation for shoplifting.
She admitted she had stolen the pregnancy test “because she did not have any money to pay for it,” the report said.
