Villages of Parkwood man jailed after alllegedly cutting wife’s clothes with kitchen knife

David Hummell

A Villages of Parkwood man was jailed after reportedly cutting his wife’s clothes with a kitchen knife during a verbal altercation with her at their home.

Wildwood police and a Sumter County sheriff’s deputy responded at 8:40 a.m. Tuesday to a home in the 5100 block of NE 124th Place, where 42-year-old David Lee Hummell was found in the garage trying to re-enter his home, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department.

His wife told police they had been arguing over $20. She said she was “scared” Hummell was going to harm her so she and a child got into a car in the driveway. Hummell had taken a knife from the kitchen and some of her clothes and followed her outside. He used the knife to cut her clothes while continuing the verbal altercation, the report said.

Hummell was arrested on a felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center.
