Democrats will be holding a press event Tuesday hours ahead of President Trump’s visit to The Villages.
The Florida Alliance for Retired Americans and the Sumter Democratic Executive Committee will hold the press conference at 10 a.m. Tuesday at local Democratic headquarters at 300 N. Main St. in Wildwood.
In an announcement issued Friday, the Florida Democratic Party accused Trump of “phony rhetoric” when it comes to Medicare, which will be the topic of the president’s invitation-only event at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday at The Sharon L. Morse Performing Arts Center in The Villages.
“He has repeatedly advocated for cuts to Medicare and Social Security and continues to work to dismantle the Affordable Care Act –– all of which, if enacted, could hurt our seniors,” the Democrats said in their announcement.
