7-Eleven claims location in The Villages after losing battle last year

Convenience store giant 7-Eleven has claimed a popular location in The Villages, having lost out last year on a coveted spot at the intersection of County Road 466 and Rolling Acres Road.

The Colony Plaza Shell abruptly shut down earlier this summer, leaving a real void for Villagers who were accustomed to gassing up their golf carts at the golf cart accessible service station. The Burger Station eatery also lost its home when the previous operator of the gas station opted not to renew the lease.

The pumps were shut down in July at the former Shell station at Colony Plaza.

That location will soon be coming back to life after 7-Eleven opted to make a more than half million dollar investment in the former home of Colony Plaza Shell.

In 2018, 7-Eleven was eager to put a store on 1.405 acres at the intersection of Rolling Acres Road and County Road 466 in Lady Lake. However, 7-Eleven’s plans for that location gained little traction as the Lady Lake Commission was leery about allowing a gas station/convenience store to set up shop at an intersection famous for heavy traffic and numerous accidents. This past January, 7-Eleven representatives announced they were giving up on that location.
